I registered as a Republican, but voted for Ross Perot twice. I admired Perot's business abilities and his success in retrieving his employees from Iran. (I've rarely had a boss that would do that for any of their employees.)
I am here to learn and to practice being a more responsible member of our community. I want to learn how to help America become a really great place to live in and to DIE for.
There were some Democrats that I admired, too. I saw two -- JFK and his brother RFK -- when they departed their helicopter after landing at the White House. I was elementary school age, visiting family friends in DC, and seeing the sights.
JFK acted older than I had expected -- his back injury may have affected the way he moved? RFK acted younger than I expected -- sprinted out of the helicopter, hurdled over the chain-link fence surrounding the landing pad, and exuded tremendous energy.
I try not to dwell on it, but occasionally I am reminded of JFK's and RFK's efforts to make America a really great place to live in and to DIE for.
