- Cloud Tech level Operator checking in, going for General as soon as time permits.. Am active Santa Barbara County GOP Member (appointed, election later this year). Find me also on Pilled/Precinct Strategy as Cloud. Sporadically monitoring CARLA RF Interlink that covers a large part of Commiefornia but mainly Central and North, although there is a repeater in LA Region (Santiago Peak). Can also work the local WIN Network from my shack. KM6UTM

Back in the 80's I had a license, but let it lapse. I've heard that code isn't required anymore, but with my current budget, I'd probably go homemade QRP and code.

Why should I get a Ham Radio License?

Why should I get licensed? Before you can get on the air, you need to be licensed and know the rules to operate legally. US licenses are good for 10 years before renewal and anyone may hold one...
